Meeting for Youth Section Members and Friends.
I am glad to let you all know that there will be another Youth Section meeting in Rudolf Steiner House on Saturday 10th September at 12.30 – 6pm. My name is Elizabeth Davison and I have attended two of the previous meetings in London. I have one year to go on the Plymouth Steiner Waldorf Education degree course. Sam Saunders led the last meeting and has asked me to take over the responsibility of organising this coming event which I am very pleased to be doing. I truly believe that these meetings are a great chance for like minded people to meet, share and connect.
I am delighted to announce that John Burnett will be the guest speaker for the day. John Burnett has a long history with Anthroposophy and, having taught in Waldorf schools for years, set up the Steiner Waldorf Education degree at Plymouth University where he has been the course leader for the past 18 years. He will be speaking on this theme: ‘In light of the Arab Spring where freedom is being fought for, what does freedom mean to us in the West?, and now that we have a high degree of freedom, how can we channel what we do into positive action.’ He will also talk about his experience (with ups and downs!) of bringing Anthroposophy into a mainstream university environment. There will be chances for discussion after John has brought his ideas.
The day will look something like this:
12.30 – welcome
1pm – lunch kindly provided by Rudolf Steiner House
2 – half hour talk by John Burnett followed by discussion
3 – artistic activities
4 – coffee break
4.30 – half hour talk by John Burnett followed by discussion
5.30 -6 – rounding up and space for people to bring anything they want or to make announcements and plans about future events
This is an open and friendly event for anyone even if Anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner are completely new to you. It would be a help to have a rough idea of numbers so e-mail me to let me know that you can come (also with any questions) at: elizabethannedavison@live.co.uk
