Dear Members and Friends,
I am writing to let you know of an historic effort to bring about the proper labeling of foods containing GMOs and to urge each of you to participate in it! An unprecedented coalition of individuals, organizations, and business from all over the country is coalescing to demand full transparency in food labeling. This effort will kick off next month with a Right2Know March, a 16-day march from New York City to the White House in Washington, D.C., October 1 through 16.
Will you add the good will of your body, soul, and spirit to this historic event and assert your right to choose what is in your food? To choose what you wish to purchase and ingest? To choose what kind of agriculture you wish to support?
We believe that the biodynamic movement has an essential role to play in this coalition and in the Right2Know March. The Biodynamic Association has joined this coalition as a partner and as a sponsor of the march. I will be present at the launch of the march in New York City, and Rebecca Briggs, our communications coordinator, will be there for the culmination in Washington, DC.
We would love to see members and friends of the Association participate in every stage of the march or support it in other ways - for example by hosting marchers in your homes, by putting out information about biodynamics at the many different stops along the way, or by helping to spread the word about the march and GMO issues in general. We would love to keep a list of members who do get involved in the march and collect articles and blog posts of your experiences.

Most Americans agree we have a right to know what’s in our food, and a right to choose safe, healthy food for our families and ourselves. And yet 80% of the packaged foods in America contain Genetically Engineered ingredients that have not been proven safe, and are not labeled!
Between October 1st and October 16th of this year, marchers from all across the country will be walking from New York City to the White House, in Washington DC, demanding labeling of all Genetically Engineered Foods, in what has come to be called the GMO Right2Know march. Come walk with us – step-by-step we will take back our Right to Know!
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) endanger our health, the environment, and our farmer’s livelihoods. For too long, biotechnology companies like Monsanto have lobbied against labeling products containing their patented plants – plants which are specially designed to be sprayed with cancer-causing weed-killers, and plants which produce pesticides in every one of their cells.
The GMO Right2Know March is the first of it’s kind in America, and will have daily events between its kickoff in New York City and its finale at the White House, in Washington, DC. Come for the knowledgeable speakers, fun presentations, camping, and much, much more! Now is your chance to make your voice heard. We will win back our Right to Know what’s in our food – one step at a time!
