Diese Ausstellung von Zeichnungen, Aquarellen und Collagen von Franz Marc und Joseph Beuys ermöglicht erstmals einen spannungsvollen Vergleich dieser beiden bedeutenden Künstler des 20. Jahrhunderts. Zugleich schlägt sie einen Bogen vom Expressionismus zur Kunst der 1940er und 1950er Jahre und führt darüber hinaus auch zur Fragestellung nach dem Verhältnis dieser beiden Künstler zur Romantik.
Denn sowohl Franz Marc als auch Joseph Beuys beschäftigen sich auf die eine oder andere Weise mit dem gleichen Thema: der Wesenhaftigkeit der Dinge.
Franz Marc und Joseph Beuys teilen eine spezifische Auffassung der Natur als eines nahezu sakralen Phänomens. Beide vertrauen auf die Erneuerungskraft und die alles überdauernde Vitalität der Natur. Franz Marc and Joseph Beuys share a specific concept of nature as a quasi-sacred phenomenon. Both had faith in nature’s powers of regeneration and its vitality, which have allowed it to survive. SINCLAIR-HAUS A SPACE FOR ART AND NATURE
The late-baroque villa located near the Bad Homburg Castle has been used as a space for exhibitions and cultural events since 1982 and was centre of ALTANA’s cultural and social activities until 2007. Since January of 2007, the ALTANA Kulturstiftung has continued this involvement and expanded upon it. Every year, four to five exhibitions with works by international and German artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries are shown. Our own collection is regularly presented in alternating exhibitions on the topic of “Nature in Contemporary Art”. The unique atmosphere of the Sinclair Haus makes it an ideal location for the “Sinclair Haus Talks” staged by the Herbert-Quandt-Stiftung.
