Wie Franz Marc gehört Joseph Beuys zu den prägenden Künstlerpersönlichkeiten des 20. Jahrhunderts. Beide Künstler setzen ihre Naturverbundenheit und ihre christlich bestimmte Weltanschauung in Werke um, die alles kreatürliche und pflanzliche Leben in den großen Zusammenhang der Natur stellen. Wie das Pferd bei Franz Marc zum Symbol des Spirituellen wird, so beziehen Hirsch und Schwan, Biene und Hase bei Beuys ihre besondere Symbolkraft aus christlichen, literarischen und biologischen Zusammenhängen. Die Ausstellung veranschaulicht in einer Gegenüberstellung von etwa 100 Zeichnungen, Aquarellen und Skulpturen, das Verbindende im Denken und in der künstlerischen Haltung der beiden Künstler.
Die Ausstellung entsteht in Kooperation mit dem Sinclair Haus, Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe. (Dezember 2011 bis Februar 2012).

Like Franz Marc, Joseph Beuys is considered one of the formative artists of the 20th century. The affinity with nature and an ideology, governed by Christian values, that both artists shared is reflected in their works, placing all plant and animal life within a broader natural context. Just as the horse in Franz Marc’s work is a symbol of the spiritual, so the stag and swan, bee and hare in Beuys’ oeuvre gain their particular symbolic significance from Christian, literary and biological sources. The exhibition highlights the correlations between the two artists’ way of thinking and their artistic positions by juxtaposing some 100 drawings, watercolours and sculptures.
The exhibition is being held in cooperation with the Sinclair Haus, Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe (December 2011–February 2012)
