Der Neue Pfaffenhofener Kunstverein gibt zum 25. Todestag von Joseph Beuys den Startschuss für sein Beuys-Projekt 2011. Joseph Beuys, Kunstprofessor, Schamane, Bildhauer, Zeichner, Aktionskünstler, Mitbegründer der „Organisation für direkte Demokratie und Volksabstimmung”, der „Freien Internationalen Universität (FIU)”, der Ökologiebewegung und der Grünen, Redner, Sänger, Performer und Pädagoge, wird weltweit als einer der bedeutendsten Künstler des 20. Jahrhundert bezeichnet, obwohl er selbst schon 1982 seinen Austritt aus der Kunst verkündete.
Beuys, dessen Leben durchaus als Gesamtkunstwerk betrachtet werden kann, ging es um die Veränderung und Umgestaltung der Gesellschaft über den von ihm eingeführten und entwickelten Erweiterten Kunstbegriff. Demokratie ist für ihn eine Gestaltungsaufgabe, die den fortwährenden kreativen Einsatz des Menschen am Mitgestalten an der Gesellschaft, der Sozialen Skulptur, verlangt. In diesen Zusammenhang gestellt wird auch seine Feststellung verständlich: „Jeder Mensch ist ein Künstler.” und: „Demokratie muss gesungen werden!”
Kunstvereinsvorsitzender Steffen Kopetzky: „Über kein Vorhaben wurde im Kunstverein im Vorfeld so lange – über ein Jahr – und so intensiv diskutiert. Jetzt freuen wir uns alle auf die Realisierung des Beuys-Projektes.” Das Projekt des Neuen Pfaffenhofener Kunstverein trägt den Titel „Beuys und die Demokratie”. Es wird in der 800 qm großen Kulturhalle umgesetzt. Der Projektvollbeauftragte ist das Kunstvereinsmitglied Manfred „Mensch” Mayer (Soziale Skulptur HALLERTAUER). Inhaltliche Begleitung erfährt das Projekt durch Johannes Stüttgen (Freier Künstler und Autor, Meisterschüler von Beuys) und Rainer Rappmann (Verleger, FIU Verlag). Die präsentierten Beuys-Werke stellt die Korff-Stiftung in Originalen zur Verfügung. Die Eröffnung ist am Freitag, den 15. Juli 2011, das Projekt läuft bis zum 7. August 2011.

It takes place in the 800 square meter Hall of Culture. The project was commissioned by the art club member Manfred "Man" Mayer (Social Sculptor, Hallertau).
