This film shows how Goethean science can bring us into a profoundly intuitive relationship to nature, and then takes the innovative step of combining Goethe's approach with Gaia theory so that we can develop a deep sense of participation and service towards our living Earth.

stephan-hardingDr Stephan Harding, Writer and Presenter:
Stephan is Head of Holistic Science and Resident Ecologist at Schumacher College in Devon.
Stephan studied Zoology at Durham University and completed a doctorate on the behavioural ecology of the Muntjac deer at Oxford. He was Visiting Professor in Wildlife Management at the National University in Costa Rica, before becoming a founder member of Schumacher College in 1990.  The College’s first teacher was James Lovelock, with whom Stephan has maintained a long-lasting friendship and scientific collaboration that recently culminated in their joint appointment as founding holders of the Arne Næss Chair in Global Justice and the Environment at the University of Oslo.Stephan’s book  ‘Animate Earth: Science, Intuition and Gaia’ - is  the inspiration for this film

Sally Angel,  Executive Producer/Director:
Sally spent 12 years at the BBC and produced many of the BBC’s flagship arts programmes, including Arena, Omnibus and The Late Show. She  worked with Clive James and set up the BBC’s Archive Unit, producing theme nights on a wide range of subjects. Sally also worked in Senior Management as Channel Development Executive for BBC Broadcast  and Commercial Channels Manager for BBC Production. Prior to joining the  BBC, Sally was at TVam, where she  worked with Sir Michael Parkinson, produced “Through The Keyhole”, the daily Live Breakfast Show and “Frost on Sunday”.
She currently owns and manages ANGEL tv, a boutique production company and media consultancy which has created and produced a number of factual series for UK Broadcasters.
Sally is also a psychotherapist with a practice in Little Venice.  sally@angeltv.co.uk

Josh Good, Producer/Director:
Josh spent most of his career making social/ political documentaries for UK and US Broadcasters.
Production highlights include ‘The Maze’ (C4) a history of the notorious prison in Northern Ireland, ‘A Child Against all Odds’ (BBC), looking at the science and ethics behind IVF, ‘Child of our Time’ (BBC), looking at child development, ‘Soldier, Husband, Daughter, Dad’, (BBC), looking at the Iraq War and ‘Children’s Hospital’, (PBS), looking at medical advances in children’s medicine.
Josh has a passion for the natural world and was brought up on a rare breeds smallholding in South Cambridgeshire.

Clive Ardagh, Co-director & Camera:
Clive is an independent filmmaker making documentaries and corporate and communications videos both in England and the Norwegian Arctic . His clients have ranged from businesses to individuals and include colleges, charities, organizations and artists. Clive originally initiated this project as part of his Masters thesis at Schumacher College.

Sean Mackenzie, Editor:
Sean has edited 15 award winning productions, with 10 different directors. Awards for Best Editing - Factual include the BAFTA Award in 2003 for 'Arena: The Many Lives of Richard  Attenborough', and BAFTA and RTS Nominations in 1996 for 'The House'.

Martin Cooper, Editor:
Martin’s editing credits include 'The South Bank Show',' Arena' and 'The Late Show' and he also won the RTS Award for factual editing in 2002. As a climber, he also has a very close relationship with granite and limestone.
