Joseph Beuys and Photography
With the exhibition 'In Focus - Joseph Beuys and Photography', the Museum Schloss Moyland Foundation spotlights the extensive collection of photographs in its Joseph Beuys Archive for the first time and demonstrates how important photography was to the artist's work and the impact it had.

The exhibition is divided into a series of rooms with various themes. One of these shows the different ways photographers viewed and presented the artist's person as well as how Beuys shaped his own public persona in front of the camera. Attention is given to photographs of his actions as well as installations and exhibitions, all of which remain important witnesses to temporary events. In addition, Joseph Beuys' work at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf until his dismissal in 1972 and his political activities such as co-founding the Green Party are reflected in numerous pictures. Other topics include his journeys, for example to Italy, Ireland and the USA, and his encounters with artist colleagues and public figures.
